Reverend Dr. Edward L. Anderson

Reverend Dr. Edward L. Anderson was born and reared in Huntsville, Alabama. 

Ander  025-Dr. Anderson is the husband of Mrs. Fruzzie Glover Anderson and the father of three adult sons; Andre, Mark and Eric Anderson.

Dr. Anderson matriculated in his early educational stages in the Huntsville City School System.  He attended grammar school, middle school and a portion of high school at William Hooper Council High.  He graduated high school from Huntsville High.

Dr. Anderson attended Alabama A&M University, Normal, Alabama, in 1967-1969 and did Bachelor Degree work in Psychology and Business Administration.

Dr. Anderson achieved his Associate Degree in General Studies from Sanford University, Birmingham, Alabama.

In further preparation for his ministry, Dr. Anderson was accepted in the Memphis Theological Seminary in 1993.  He graduated with the Masters of Divinity Degree in 1996.  Dr. Anderson completed his work at Andersonville Theological Seminary in 2005 and received the Doctorate of Pastoral Counseling Degree.

 

Dr. Anderson has been affiliated with the following associations:

•    Member of the Greater Huntsville Interdenominational Ministerial Fellowship since 1980.
•    Moderator of the Florence Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America from 1994-1996 and 2008-2010.
•    Vice Moderator of the Florence Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America from 2006-2008.
•    Member of the General Assembly Twenty-One Member Board for twelve years.

Dr. Anderson is a born-again Christian.  He answered his call by God to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1978 under the leadership of Dr. Julius R. Scruggs.  Dr. Anderson served as an Associate Minister of First Missionary Baptist Church from 1978-1982.

Dr. Anderson received the call to serve as pastor of Hurricane Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Brownsboro, Alabama in 1982.  He served faithfully until 1987.

 Dr. Anderson received the call from the Bethel CPCA Church Session, Florence, Alabama, in 1989 to serve as their church’s pastor.  Dr. Anderson was united with the Florence Presbytery and ordained.  Dr. Anderson has faithfully served Bethel CPCA, Florence, Alabama, for 23 years.

On August 30, 2012, Dr. Anderson officially accepted the call and the daunting challenge to serve as Pastor of the Union Hill CPCA, Huntsville, Alabama.  Dr. Anderson is humbly thankful for the confidence and faith the Union Hill CPCA Church Session and congregation has placed in him to serve as Pastor of such an outstanding Christian Church.
